George Kadzis was a loving father and husband from Tallahassee, Florida who died of brain cancer. Prior to his death his family suffered a huge catastrophe leaving them with a crumpled, hurricane-shattered house.
Living then with George, his wife Barbara and son Chris were six children with special needs they adopted from orphanages in China. I want to illustrate here clearly a clear picture of each adopted child namely:
- Melody; she was blind and it became difficult for her to move around after the house was torn.
- Martin had a deformed right arm and hand.
- Julia was deaf.
- Phoenix and Celeste were undergoing cleft palates repair.
- Aileen lost her biological father to cancer and her biological mother left after his death.
This family wasn’t fluent in Chinese but it did not become a barrier at all for them to communicate in their own fashion. A universal language bonded them together and that’s love and compassion. They opened their hearts and home to the children who needed help. Aside from facing extra financial burden, they had to attend to the daily needs of the six adopted children. People like them were so admirable; they adopted children without expecting anything in return.
Their house got a makeover (George’s final wish) from a TV program which hailed George as an inspiration and hope to the hopeless people in the world. He died two days after their house was built never having a chance to see it. It seemed so unfair that someone with a kind heart like George would succumb to such a painful death. But George definitely made a difference in the lives of his adopted children, and these children can change other people’s lives too knowing how well George changed theirs. They would surely grow up strong like their father.
Everyone can become a part of the same faith which is compassion to help others. You can bring back the light on a child’s doomed sanctuary of poverty, sickness and hunger. There are millions of children who need help.
