HIV and AIDS Affected Children Need Urgent Help

There is one inevitable notion that revolves around HIV/AIDS; that people affected are “a social disgrace” which prevents them from being open. Isolation doesn’t help a bit. This drowns them with grief and emotional insecurities. To add to their self-pity is the way how people would treat them.

Young people are the most affected when we talk about HIV. If their parents are presently ill, more likely they are the ones who will go the same difficulties in the later years of their life. These children are deprived of the normal life because they do tasks supposedly done by adults. They tend the house, take care of smaller siblings, the older ones act as nurse and attend to the ill parents, and sometimes provide an income from whatever job can provide a little sustenance for the family.

Impact of HIV/AIDS on Society:

From a single home, to a community, and to a country as a whole there is a great impact that influence the social environment of aids infected people, like the following.

  • Life span: For example in countries of Africa, AIDS is a major cause of early death. People who must have been working to help the nation’s progress are dying in their middle ages, when they would have lived to be 60 years old.
  • Home: When a family loses the income provider, a partner who is likely infected also is left with a need for health care. Eventually their children would be left behind without parents and struggle to survive.
  • Health: As the number of infected people multiplies, it poses a heavy strain on the health providers. The health workers are growing in unprecedented demand.
  • School: While schools are also good playing field for AIDS, it is the best place to reduce the impact. Education is a vital solution and it plays a major role in controlling the spread of AIDS.
  • Productivity: In countries severely affected by AIDS, 15 to 49 years old are the majority of people who are in their prime years to work are dying or ill. Imagine how it would slow down the nation’s progress when young people are sick and needs care.

But we are healthy people and they need us urgently. One of the best ways in which we can help improve their conditions is through additional funds. Money is the solution in the prevention, education and medical care needed for those people living with AIDS.

Children need support in such a way that they would still be a part of their family and community. It is not the best idea to put them in orphanages which is not a convincing place for them to grow up. Instead, they should get adult guidance right in the place where they are to be growing as productive children of that familiar community. Adoption is not that simple for HIV infected children. Even babies have hard times finding adoptive parents for fear they might be HIV positive.

What needs to be done?

We need to accumulate funds from YOU, yes people like you who have genuine hearts, concerned about these poor little angels who know nothing yet of what the future has in store for them. Let’s provide them with the support they need. They need community programs so that children who lost their parents won’t be separated from their siblings, they need each other. Children Care Centers are set up by social workers who need funds for them to be effective.
You can donate your contribution for them to “Children of the Planet Trust”. Or Contact Us.
